Bar stools are a little beyond the scope of most wood workers, at least safe, comfortable and decent looking bar stools. You would also need a wood lathe for the legs, unless you buy pre-spun hardwood legs. The seat is usually contoured out of solid hardwood and that ain’t easy either. Any metal working. leather or upholstery work is also beyond our scope and that of many other members.
I tried, believe me and if you want junk and inconsistent results, try it yourself. I would up with an expensive pile of firewood. You can find some plans for PVC bar stools, but no self respecting drunk would use them.
Manufactured bar stools may be a bit pricey, but you buy them once and they typically last for a lifetime. The right set of matching bar stools is the veritable cherry on your project.
If you have any ideas on a doable design of set of required features, I’ll see if I can develop an easy design…don’t hold your breath though…lol!
@edwin_wi – out of the thousands of members of this site, I have yet to see one person who built their own stools. Perhaps you could the the first?
Keep me posted!
