Finishing my basement with the focalpoints being a bar and entertainment center. Just finished the bar and now starting on the EC.

I built a variation of the L-shaped bar with walnut that includes a sink, dishwasher and beverage center refrigerator. The upper and lower bar tops are absolute black granite tiles with the joints butted tightly together. I also incorporated flexible RGB LED strips mounted under 2 bottle shelves in the back bar. There is a controller mounted under the sink to drive the LED’s. I can program many different colors and patterns. I initially tried flourescent but was not happy. I would highly recommend LED for this type of application.

I’ll be posting several pictures in the gallery. I used the L-shaped bar plans as a starting point with several modifications to fit my space and tastes along with inspiration from others on this site.

I’ll be finishing the walnut in a few weeks once I finish the entertainment center. The walnut will be very much darker than it is now.

Nice bar top! -this is exactly what I want to do. You said that you used black granite tiles and placed them close together. Do you have any problem with spilled drinks leaking in between the tiles?
