Hey guys was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me. I have been buying 1/4 kegs of Miller Lite and my distributor has these kegs in a black rubber keg instead of the usual metal container. I was wondering if this could have anything to do with my box temperature not dropping below 40 degrees. When the keg was not in the box the temp is about 30 degrees on little above medium cool setting. After the keg is in there it wont drop below 40 degrees on the highest setting. I have a fan blowing cold air around inside the keg box and the keg has a gap all the way around it so its not butted up against the walls in any way. Any help would be appreciated.
I forgot to mention also that when I took the rubber keg out of the keg box and placed it into my normal refrigerator, it made my normal refrigerator (which normally has a temp of 30 degrees) and raised it to around 35 degrees. Thats what has me thinking the rubber keg might have something to do with my prob. Any thoughts???
The only difference I have found is the diameter: The rubber kegs are a bit wider, which might affect airflow around the keg.
I’m not sure why you would have problems getting the rubber lined kegs colder. :
You shouldn’t need your beer colder than 40 degrees…if so you are just killing any flavor that it has..Beer should be served around 40-45 degrees in a Non-frosted glass…
You from the UK?
I guess it depends upon beer type.
I agree, a good homebrew would be better a bit warmer, but a Lager like Miller Lite or Bud Light is better (IMHO) around 35. They have very little taste anyway… 😆
